BISNIS NEWS | JAKARTA — More than 60 national-level trade union confederations and federations, together with people's organizations from farmers, fishermen, teachers, and other elements of the people, will take to the streets in a grand action attended by thousands of workers.
The action will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025.
KSPI President, Said Iqbal, said the action would start from the United Nations (UN) office in Jakarta, then continue with a long march to the United States Embassy, and end at the Egyptian Embassy.
"There are three main demands that will be conveyed by the workers. First, stop the war between Iran and Israel. Second, stop the genocide in Gaza. Free Palestine. Third, urge the UN and the United States Government to stop all wars in the world," he said today.
Said Iqbal emphasized that this attitude is a call of conscience for the labor movement regarding the global humanitarian tragedy that can no longer be ignored.
"Workers do not just work. Workers are human beings. And war, like what is happening today, has taken away our humanity. War creates layoffs, destroys the people's economy, and ruins the future of workers around the world. Therefore, we emphasize that workers must stand at the forefront against war," said Said Iqbal.
In their action tomorrow, the workers will urge the Egyptian Embassy to immediately convey a mass appeal to the Egyptian President to open the Rafah border as a crucial route for the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, which is now isolated and besieged.
This action is not just a political appeal. This is a flame of cross-border solidarity. A firm stance that says that massacres must not be silenced, and colonization cannot be allowed to become routine.
Said Iqbal emphasized that we must fight war. We call on the UN, the United States Government, and all countries—including the Indonesian Government—to take a bold and firm stance: Stop the Iran-Israel war! Stop the genocide in Gaza! Free Palestine! (*)
